Website Cookies

A cookie is a small file containing information that is saved to your computer by websites you visit. Cookies are commonly used to improve website performance and efficiency, and can track how and when a user visits a website and/or other websites. There are two common types of cookies: “session cookies” and “persistent cookies.” Session cookies store information only for the length of time that the user is connected to a website- – they are not written onto the user’s hard drive. Session cookies are automatically deleted after the user leaves the website, at which point the originator of the cookie no longer has access to the information that was contained on that temporary cookie file.

We use session cookies as an additional security feature to ensure proper user authentication. When our customers log on to our websites and are authenticated through their User ID and password, a cookie will store the identification number of their browser. Throughout their session, the session cookie acts as a type of digital signature to identify our customer’s current session to the web server. The web server will monitor our customer’s browser number to help verify that, at all times during the session, we are dealing with our customer.

We also use session cookies to track our customers’ visits. We use that information to determine the type of information that our customers are looking for on our website and to improve our website. If applicable, we use information about the website our customers visited immediately prior to our website to assess the viability of links to our website that we have created on third party websites. The information stored in “persistent cookies” is written onto our customer’s device and remains there until the expiry date of the cookie. From time to time, we use persistent cookies to store non-sensitive Personal Information. Currently, most browsers do not distinguish between session cookies and persistent cookies.

Many features of our websites require cookies to function properly. However, you may review your cookies settings on your browser to enable alerts or to reject some cookies.

Our websites do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals from browsers.

Security and Data Integrity

We take all commercially reasonable precautions to safeguard the Personal Information collected and to protect it against loss and unauthorized access.

Access to our customers’ Personal Information is restricted to selected Purolator employees and contractors. In addition, we employ generally accepted information security techniques, such as firewalls, access control procedures and cryptography, to protect Personal Information against loss and unauthorized access. While we use commercially reasonable efforts to limit access to our vehicles and premises to authorized personnel, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information that is displayed on any shipment package or shipment label.

Unfortunately, no method of accessing, using, transmitting or storing data can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. It is your sole responsibility to use the appropriate level of care whenever communicating with us. For example, when you create a website portal account, you are responsible for keeping your login name and password confidential. Do not send us personal information through email or other unsecured electronic channels and do not send us sensitive information unless requested.

If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, you feel that the security of any account you might have with us has been compromised), you must immediately notify us using the contact information listed below.

Links to other websites

Our websites may contain links to other websites. The operators of those other websites may collect information about you, through cookies or other technologies, pursuant to their own policies. We are not responsible for how such third parties collect, use or disclose Personal Information.
